incongruent universe

As I was booting up my laptop this morning, I was thinking about how cool the 21st century is. I love that we can find a place for dinner in a city that we don't know on our IPODs while driving around lost. Then I was driving to work and the BBC news radio came on and the newscaster was talking about Jihadist and witches in Romania cursing the government for taxing them. Is it just me, or does it seem that although we are living at the same time, there are still many people who can't or won't step into the 21st century — that they almost live in an incongruent universe.
